Silverstone events and track days by helicopter

The British Grand Prix is one weekend in the year. Silverstone also hosts MotoGP, endurance racing, track days, driving experiences and festivals, and a helicopter suits many of them.

Silverstone runs events and track days through the year, not just Formula 1. Its 2027 calendar includes the FIA World Endurance Championship, the British Grand Prix, BRDC Classic and MotoGP on 13 to 15 August, plus track days and driving experiences. A helicopter from London takes about 20 to 25 minutes and can be arranged for any of them.

What is on at Silverstone in 2027?

Silverstone's events page lists the following dates. Some entries are marked as coming soon on the circuit's site, and calendars can change, so check the source before you commit.

EventDates listed by Silverstone
FIA World Endurance Championship, 6 Hours of Silverstone23 to 25 April 2027
Formula 1 British Grand Prix1 to 4 July 2027 (race weekend 2 to 4 July, provisional)
BRDC Classic23 to 25 July 2027
British GT Championship7 to 8 August 2027
British Grand Prix MotoGP13 to 15 August 2027
CarFest27 to 29 August 2027 (coming soon)
European Le Mans Series3 to 5 September 2027 (coming soon)
British Touring Car Championship25 to 26 September 2027 (coming soon)

Silverstone also lists Run Fest on 22 November 2026 and Christmas at Silverstone from 11 to 31 December 2026. For the headline race, see our British Grand Prix by helicopter guide.

Can you fly in for MotoGP and the other race meetings?

Yes, subject to the same landing permission as any other flight. Silverstone's announcement of the 2027 MotoGP calendar puts the British round at Silverstone on 13 to 15 August 2027, as Round 13, and says the British round is set to continue at Silverstone in 2028.

The endurance and touring car meetings, such as the 6 Hours of Silverstone and the British Touring Car Championship, are standard race weekends. Whether the circuit runs its heliport operation with limited slots will depend on the event, and we confirm the position when you ask. Do not assume a quiet weekend means open access: landing permission and site suitability still apply.

If you are comparing options, remember that our price page gives an indicative figure from £14,950 + VAT return from Battersea. See helicopter to Silverstone cost.

For any race meeting, ask us early which side of the circuit your ticket or hospitality is on and what time the sessions you care about start. A helicopter does not change the timetable, but it does change how comfortably you meet it. Tell us if your party includes children, older guests or anyone who prefers a calmer day, and we will build that into the plan.

Is a helicopter useful for a track day or driving experience?

Often, yes. Silverstone's track and testing pages describe car track days for everyone from hobbyists to racers, with qualified instructors available, plus bike track days on what it calls Britain's only MotoGP circuit, and vehicle testing on a range of circuit configurations. Some owners bring a supercar and want to arrive fresh, on time and without a long drive home afterwards.

  • Early start: a morning departure from London gets you to the circuit for the first session.
  • Luggage: helmets, kit and a change of clothes can be discussed when you enquire, as space depends on the helicopter.
  • Return: a flight home after a long day on track is less tiring than the drive.

Track-day rules, ages and vehicle requirements are set by Silverstone and are not repeated here. Read them on the circuit's own site first.

What driving experiences does Silverstone offer?

Silverstone's drive page lists experiences in cars such as Audi, Ferrari, Aston Martin and McLaren models, a Formula single seater experience, a Ferrari versus Aston Martin format, a supercar experience with three cars, and a Caterham drift experience. Prices, ages and licence rules are set by the circuit and change, so we do not quote them.

These work well as gifts, client days and birthdays. A helicopter turns the journey into part of the occasion, and it can take a small group together. Ask for a quote with your date and passenger count, and confirm your driving slot directly with Silverstone first.

How do the event types compare for a helicopter?

Different days at Silverstone call for different planning. The table is a general guide, not a statement of circuit policy, and the circuit's own rules always come first.

Type of dayWhat to think aboutWhat to tell us
Race weekend (Grand Prix, MotoGP)Limited event-day slots, busy roads, a fixed timetableDay, ticket type, passenger numbers
Other race meetingsLanding permission still applies; arrangements vary by eventDate, session you want to see
Track dayEarly start, kit and luggage, tiring drive homeStart time, group size, luggage
Driving experienceFixed booked slot, often a gift or client daySlot time, number of guests
Festival or seasonal eventLarge crowds, possible limits on arrivalsDate, venue within the site

The common thread is that the circuit decides the programme and the heliport arrangements, and we plan the flight around them.

What about festivals and seasonal events?

Silverstone's events listing includes CarFest, Run Fest and Christmas at Silverstone, and its venue pages mention the Walter Hayes Trophy and corporate festivals. Silverstone's calendar for 2027 does not list a Silverstone Classic or Festival at the time of writing, and we have found no listed concert dates. We will not guess at either.

For larger public events, plan on the assumption that the circuit manages arrivals and that slots may be limited. Our Silverstone heliport and landing page explains how landing works.

How should you plan a flight for an event?

Whichever event you pick, work through these steps in order.

  1. Confirm the event date on Silverstone's own site, especially entries marked coming soon.
  2. Book tickets, hospitality or your driving slot.
  3. Send us an enquiry with date, passenger numbers and departure point. London departures use London Battersea.
  4. Check the details: landing permission, arrival and departure times and any ground arrangements.

If the flight is cancelled because of the weather, you pay nothing. This site is not affiliated with Silverstone Circuit or Formula 1.

Same day or overnight?

Most event flights are same-day: out in the morning and back in the evening. That keeps the cost and the logistics simple. If you prefer to stay, Silverstone's pages describe Escapade Silverstone, an accommodation and clubhouse with a restaurant, bar, pool and gym, and a Hilton Garden Inn that overlooks the start and finish straight. Availability and rates are for those venues, and we can fly you in and out on separate days.

Ask yourself a few questions before you enquire. When does the session you care about start? What time must you be back in London? Is a late finish likely? Does everyone in the party need to travel together? The answers shape the plan, and we can often suggest a timetable that works. For larger groups, ask about flying from elsewhere in the UK as well.

Frequently asked questions

Can I fly to Silverstone for MotoGP?

Yes. Silverstone lists the 2027 British Grand Prix MotoGP for 13 to 15 August 2027. Helicopter landings remain subject to landing permission and site suitability, and slots may be limited on event days. Send us the date and passenger count and we will quote. Landing is subject to permission and the event programme.

Is a helicopter useful for a track day?

Many people find it useful. A morning flight from London gets you to the circuit for the first session, and the flight home avoids a long drive after a tiring day. Track day rules are set by Silverstone, so read them on the circuit site. Prices vary by date and helicopter.

Does Silverstone hold events outside the British Grand Prix?

Yes. Its events page lists the World Endurance Championship, BRDC Classic, British GT, MotoGP, CarFest, European Le Mans Series and the British Touring Car Championship in 2027, plus Run Fest and Christmas at Silverstone in late 2026. Lists change, so check the circuit site first.

Are the 2027 dates confirmed?

Dates are those listed by Silverstone, and some entries are marked coming soon. The Formula 1 calendar is described as provisional. Check the circuit site before committing, and we will tell you if anything changes before your flight. You can plan around the dates already listed.

How much is a helicopter to a Silverstone event?

Battersea Helicopter gives an indicative price from £14,950 + VAT return from London. The price varies by date, helicopter and passenger count, so ask us for a quote for your event. The quote is all-inclusive. Larger groups can be discussed.

What if the weather stops the flight?

If the flight is cancelled because of the weather, you pay nothing. We check conditions before departure and tell you early if a flight looks doubtful, so you can decide on your plans. Costs are explained when we quote. We never charge for that cancellation.
