British Grand Prix 2027 helicopter booking: when to start
Silverstone lists the 2027 British Grand Prix for 2 to 4 July, and bookings are already being taken. Here is what to settle first, and why an early request matters on race weekend.
Silverstone lists the 2027 British Grand Prix for 2 to 4 July 2027, although the Formula 1 calendar is still described as provisional. Bookings for the weekend are already being taken. The circuit manages helicopter arrivals on event days, so slots are limited. Send your request as soon as plans are firm.
When is the 2027 British Grand Prix?
Silverstone's news page for the 2027 Formula 1 calendar gives the British Grand Prix as Friday 2 to Sunday 4 July 2027. The same page refers to the list as provisional, so the dates are planning dates until Formula 1 and the circuit finalise them. Silverstone's own events page shows the wider event window as 1 to 4 July 2027, with tickets on sale.
This site always repeats that caveat, because it matters for anything you pay for in advance. If you book a helicopter now, the sensible approach is to ask what happens if the dates move, and to keep your hotel and ticket terms in view as well.
For a fuller walk through the weekend, including how each day differs, read our British Grand Prix by helicopter page. This guide is about the booking side: what to do, in what order, and when.
A practical way to use a provisional date is to treat it as firm enough to plan with but not firm enough to pay non-refundable costs against without reading the terms. Watch Silverstone's news and events pages for any update, and tell us if you see a change before we do. We would rather hear it early and adjust your request than have you plan around the wrong weekend.
It also helps to separate the three things that can change. The race dates could move. The session times, which the series sets nearer the event, will be published later. And the circuit's heliport arrangements are confirmed closer to the weekend. A good enquiry works with all three still open.

Are helicopter bookings already open for 2027?
Yes. Bookings are already being taken for the 2027 British Grand Prix. You do not need to wait for session times or the final calendar to start a conversation, although we will tell you plainly what is still unknown.
There are two reasons to ask early. First, the circuit manages helicopter arrivals on event days through its own heliport operation, so the number of slots is limited. Second, an early request gives you more say over arrival and departure times, which is the part of the day most guests care about.
Early does not mean fixed. A request is a place in the queue while the details settle, not a promise that a particular minute is yours. Every landing remains subject to landing permission and site suitability, and we confirm the slot in writing before you commit.
What should you settle before you enquire?
You can send an enquiry with very little, but a few decisions make the quote faster and the plan better. Work through them in this order.
- Your ticket or hospitality package. It decides where you need to be after landing, and Silverstone says there is no drop-off facility at the circuit.
- Which day or days. Friday, Saturday and Sunday suit different purposes. Practice, qualifying and the race each have a different feel and a different level of demand.
- Passenger numbers. The number in your party affects the aircraft and the price. Larger groups can be discussed, including splitting a party across flights.
- Departure point. London Heliport at Battersea, or another place in the UK. Our London Battersea and UK departures pages explain each.
- Outward and return timing. Give a window rather than a single minute, and say if the return could be late.
Do not worry if some of this is unknown. Tell us what you have and we will say what we need next.
Which day of the weekend should you choose?
The weekend is listed as Friday 2 July, Saturday 3 July and Sunday 4 July 2027, with practice, qualifying and the race falling in that order. The right day depends on what the trip is for, and there is no single answer.
- Friday. Some guests choose the practice day to see cars on track before the weekend builds, or to avoid the heaviest demand.
- Saturday. Qualifying decides the grid, so it suits guests who want to see the lap times that set up the race.
- Sunday. The race itself, and the day when arrivals and departures are busiest. Our race Sunday guide covers the arrival, the transfer and the flight home in detail.
- More than one day. Some guests fly in on more than one day, which can be arranged as separate legs.
If you are weighing two days, tell us both. We can request a slot for each and let you decide once the circuit confirms what is available.
How long is the flight, and what does it cost?
From London Heliport at Battersea to Silverstone is about 48 nautical miles (88 km), and the flight takes 20 to 25 minutes in the air. Another departure point, such as Denham aerodrome, takes about 25 minutes.
| Departure | Flight time | Indicative price |
|---|---|---|
| London Heliport, Battersea | About 20 to 25 minutes | From £14,950 + VAT return |
| Denham aerodrome | About 25 minutes | From £12,995 + VAT return, up to 5 passengers, subject to weights |
These are starting points, not fixed fares. The price you are quoted depends on the date, the passenger numbers and the weights involved, and race weekend is a date where those details matter. The full explanation is on our helicopter to Silverstone cost page.
Why are race weekend slots limited?
In April 2025 Silverstone announced a new bespoke heliport terminal with over 8,500 sq ft of covered space. The same announcement said the heliport was expected to welcome more than 6,000 passengers on over 1,500 flights during the British Grand Prix weekend. Those were the circuit's planning figures for that year, but they show the scale of demand compressed into three days.
On event days the circuit's own heliport operation handles arrivals, which is why slots are planned and confirmed in advance. We cannot give a landing time until the circuit has confirmed one. What we can do is request early, keep your preferred and fallback windows on file, and tell you quickly if a request cannot be met. The mechanics are described on our Silverstone heliport and landing page.

What happens after you enquire, and what about the road option?
After your enquiry we reply with a quote and a proposed plan, then request the arrival and departure slots once you confirm. Your booking confirmation sets out the flight details and terms. The day before, we check the forecast with you. If the flight is cancelled because of the weather, you pay nothing.
Not every guest wants to fly both ways, and not every party fits in one helicopter. Some guests choose a flight in and a car home, or a car for part of the group. Executive Global Travel, a separate company with its own prices, offers a chauffeur to the circuit with door-to-circuit drop-off, group travel and a 24-hour service. See chauffeur to Silverstone for what they cover. Our day by helicopter page shows the typical timeline on the day itself.
When you are ready, send an enquiry with your date, passenger numbers and departure point, and we will come back with a quote.
