MotoGP weekend

Silverstone MotoGP 2027 by helicopter

The British round of MotoGP returns to Silverstone on 13 to 15 August 2027. Here is how a helicopter fits that weekend, and what to organise before you ask for a slot.

Silverstone lists the British Grand Prix MotoGP for 13 to 15 August 2027, Round 13 of the championship. A helicopter from London Heliport at Battersea takes about 20 to 25 minutes. On event days the circuit manages helicopter arrivals through its own heliport operation, so slots are limited and worth requesting early.

When is MotoGP at Silverstone in 2027?

Silverstone's events page lists the British Grand Prix MotoGP for 13 to 15 August 2027, with tickets on sale. The circuit's announcement of the 2027 MotoGP calendar confirms the British round as Round 13 and says MotoGP continues at Silverstone through 2028 as well. 13 August 2027 is a Friday, so the weekend runs Friday to Sunday.

Session times are set by the series nearer the date, so we do not quote them here. The wider list of what else the circuit hosts in 2027, from endurance racing to touring cars, is on the circuit's events page, and we summarise it on our events and track days guide. If the date you are looking at is a Friday, a Saturday or a Sunday, tell us which, because demand differs between them. Once the timetable is published, send it to us and we will build the flight around the sessions you want to see. The Formula 1 British Grand Prix is a separate event in early July; our 2027 British Grand Prix helicopter booking guide covers that one.

Can you fly in for the MotoGP?

Yes, subject to the same landing permission as any other flight to the circuit. A MotoGP weekend is a major event, so you should expect the circuit to manage helicopter arrivals through its own heliport operation, as it does on other event days. That means slots are limited, they are planned and confirmed in advance, and every landing is subject to landing permission and site suitability.

We do not promise a particular landing minute until the slot is confirmed. What we do is request your preferred window early, give you a fallback, and tell you plainly if a request cannot be met. The detail of how landings work is on our Silverstone heliport and landing page.

How does a MotoGP weekend differ from a Formula 1 weekend for a helicopter guest?

For the flight itself, very little changes. The distance from Battersea is the same, about 48 nautical miles (88 km), and the time in the air is the same, 20 to 25 minutes. The planning questions are also the same: which day, how many passengers, where is your ticket, and when do you need to leave.

The differences are about the event, not the aircraft.

  • Dates and season. MotoGP is in mid August, while the Formula 1 race is in early July. Check availability around your own calendar.
  • Demand and arrangements. The circuit's published planning figures for heliport traffic refer to the Formula 1 weekend. We do not have published figures for MotoGP, so we confirm the arrangements for your date when you ask rather than assume them.
  • Sessions and tickets. The sessions and the grandstand or hospitality you choose decide where you need to be after landing.

Silverstone also describes itself on its track and testing pages as Britain's only MotoGP circuit. If you ride, the same site offers bike track days, so a MotoGP guest may already know the circuit from the other side of the fence. Our business events and The Wing page covers hospitality-style days if you are bringing clients rather than friends.

Which day should you fly?

There is no single right answer, and the circuit's timetable is the deciding factor once it is published. A few general points help while you wait.

DayDate (2027)What to think about
Friday13 AugustThe first day of the weekend. Some guests prefer it for a quieter start.
Saturday14 AugustThe middle day. Check the timetable for the sessions you want.
Sunday15 AugustThe final day, and typically the busiest for arrivals and departures.

Tell us your ticket or hospitality type when you enquire. If you want to see a particular session, give us the time and we will plan the arrival backwards from it. Allow a margin: Silverstone warns that the roads are busy on race days, and a margin protects you from the circuit's own timetable.

What should you ask before you book a MotoGP flight?

A MotoGP weekend is a large public event, and a few questions are worth settling before you commit to a flight. None of them needs an answer today, but the earlier you have them, the better the plan.

  • Is your ticket confirmed? The grandstand or hospitality you hold decides where you need to go after landing. Silverstone states that there is no drop-off facility at the circuit, so tell us your ticket type and we confirm the onward route when we quote.
  • How many are travelling? Passenger numbers and weights decide the aircraft and the price. If your group is large, ask about splitting it across flights.
  • What time must you be in your seat? Give us the session or the time, and we plan the arrival around it with a margin.
  • When do you want to leave? Tell us whether you plan to leave before the final session, at the end, or later. Daylight and heliport hours shape the return, and a late departure is easier to arrange in advance.
  • Does anyone need extra help? Reduced mobility, children, pets and bulky luggage are all easier to plan for at the quote stage than at the pad.

Weather is the other variable in August as at any time of year. We check the forecast with you the day before and again on the morning, and we tell you early if a flight looks doubtful. If you want to see how the day runs from the heliport onward, our day by helicopter page walks through the usual timeline.

What does it cost, and how do you start?

A return flight from London Heliport at Battersea starts from £14,950 + VAT. From Denham aerodrome the flight takes about 25 minutes, and a return in an AS355 starts from £12,995 + VAT for up to 5 passengers, subject to weights. Your quote depends on the date, passenger numbers and weights. More detail is on our helicopter to Silverstone cost page, and the events and track days page puts the MotoGP in the context of the circuit's year.

To start, send us the date, the number of people, the departure point and your ticket type. We reply with a quote, request the slots once you confirm, and check the forecast with you the day before and on the morning. If the flight is cancelled because of the weather, you pay nothing.

If part of your group prefers the road, Executive Global Travel, a separate company with its own prices, can arrange a chauffeur to the circuit. See chauffeur to Silverstone. When you are ready, send an enquiry and we will come back with a plan.
